AboutThe difference
Portrait of Julius Niemeyer, founder of Frontier Scope
Julius NiemeyerFounder, Frontier Scope
Artist and curator, Munich

A practitioner's eye. An analyst's rigor.

Most art advisors learned the field from the outside, by cataloguing what has already happened. Frontier Scope is led by Julius Niemeyer, an artist and curator who works at the current edge of contemporary art and is part of a live network of artists, gallerists, collectors, and institutions.

Having studied architecture and fine art, Julius Niemeyer spent more than a decade steering construction projects before moving into art, and today leads Kunst und Bauen GmbH, sits on the board of the Friends of the Pinakothek der Moderne, and teaches at Muthesius University of Fine Arts in Kiel.

That judgment comes with evidence. Recommendations rest on market data and structured research, and when the right tool doesn't exist, it gets built. You get artistic insight, numbers you can defend, and working software, from one person who understands all three.

Process

How a project runs
01

Initial conversation

Free and without obligation. What needs to be decided, by when, and with what budget, and whether Frontier Scope is the right fit.

02

Analysis

Site, collection, documents, and market data: what exists, what is missing, and what comparable institutions do.

03

Concept

A clear recommendation with options, costs, and timeline, worked through with your team until it holds.

04

Implementation

Acquisitions, exhibition, study, or software, carried through to the end with regular check-ins and a clean handover.

Between every step: a thorough discussion and a feedback round. Nothing moves on until you are convinced, and the concept is shaped together with you, not delivered to you.

Approach

Principles

Independent

Paid by fee, never by commission. No gallery or auction house pays for a recommendation, so the advice stays on your side.

From inside the field

Working knowledge as an artist and curator, not a second-hand read of what is already established.

Evidence, not taste alone

Market data, benchmarks, and clear analysis behind every recommendation, so decisions hold up in front of boards and funders.

One point of contact

Concept, research, and software from one source, instead of four providers who never talk to each other.
